The impact of climate change on lake functioning
A post-doctoral position is available on a joint project supervised by Yannick Huot (U. Sherbrooke) and Yves Prairie (UQAM, Montreal) to synthesize results from the pan- Canadian LakePulse program. Within the LakePulse program, over 660 lakes, statistically selected to cover gradients in lake size and degree of human disturbance, were sampled in 5 of the main Canadian ecoregions. General information about the LakePulse program can be found at LakePulse.ca and in Huot et al. (2019). The responsibility of the selected candidate will be to use and synthesize the LakePulse results in conjunction with climate change scenarios to evaluate the potential impact of climate change on the functioning of Canadian lakes, with a particular emphasis on physical properties, eutrophication, and carbon cycling. Candidates with a strong quantitative and programming skills are particularly encouraged to apply, but a strong desire to learn and work within a large network of students and researchers is most important.
